I’m always delighted when my coach training ’shows up’ during the course of my daily activities. I attended the Phenomenal Women’s Conference on Friday, where my business partner and I spoke about the emerging power of women in the workplace and how women could help others to achieve financial equity with men and also achieve a better life/work balance.
Typically, women have not operated from a team point of view. From the time we are small, we are taught to try to be the prettiest, the smartest, the most popular, not the best team mate. We can learn from men how helping each other move ahead helps us all.
Recent statistics which we gleaned from a terrific book called ‘Womenomics’ indicate that women are signicantly more profitable in the work place than men, getting more work done in fewer hours. That would set the stage for women to work shorter work weeks for the same pay, thereby allowing them to do those family tasks that husbands just aren’t usually good at, such as shopping for party dresses for little daughters.
Another thing women need to concentrate on is helping their sisters in the workplace – paying forward the mentoring that they themselves received, no matter the source. So, reach out a hand this week, and help a woman you know.
