This experiment with following the pleasure in life has been awesome so far.
Let’s see – the year is half over and what has happened so far? I’ve had two of my photos used commercially on the Internet. No income, but good pr and very gratifying.
I’ve gotten several excellent reviews of my book, the most important one being from an agent. I have queries out to two agents right now. I’m taking my time selecting agents to query, to make sure it is their type of story, which just makes sense. I feel no undue pressure here as I am not counting on writing novels for income. However, should I get published, any earnings from the book would be a windfall. I am also writing non-fiction articles, but that is on the back burner while I pursue an agent.
I am practicing the Positivity Ratio with a vengence and – it’s paying off! I am often amazed at the negative thoughts that just spring unbidden into my mind. Cleaning those out has given me back a bit of the innocence we lose as we mature.
I have now created several websites using WordPress and Thesis and it is so much fun that I have started a new business called ‘The Micromarketeer’. It will be aimed at micro enterprises (less than five people) and the goal will be to help those folks get a good looking website up that they can manage easily and enhance as they can afford it. This fits right in with my life mission of encouraging people to embrace their creativity, while allowing me to embrace mine.
I am coaching just one person right now, but his progress is so amazing and rewarding and I have learned so much in the process that I can’t wait to welcome two more people to my practice.
My main business is prospering while still allowing me time to explore my creativity and my interest in it has been renewed because I realize I can choose only to work with people whose integrity is on a par with that of mine and my partner.
Embracing one’s creativity is like opening a magic door.
