All these changes, positive though they may be, have resulted in a degree of chaos in my life.
The flat belly diet is rewarding me each day as I get into my favorite jeans without a fight. Interestingly enough, because I can SEE the results, I don’t have a need to jump on the scale. I’m motivated, baby!
On the other hand, my cooking style pre-diet was much, oh, I’m not very hungry, I’ll just eat a can of soup. Now, if I want to keep getting my reward of weight loss, I have to be more pro-active. I have to plan those meals and I have to eat them, even though eating alone is not as much fun.
I’m also having to learn about different products, change my budget to reflect more expensive grocery shopping, but less spent on dinners out. Trips to the liquor store are greatly curtailed, since I have discovered that mixed drinks don’t taste as good as a nice glass of wine with my meal. Which, coincidentally, is the way Europeans drink their wine, with the meal instead of as an alcoholic beverage.
I started this diet regime because I was actually beginning to feel mortal. My blood pressure just wouldn’t behave. Now, it is gradually improving. When I am naughty and eat something like Triskets, I pay the price when I measure bp the next day.
But this is just one of many changes the reinvention process is bringing. My commitment to change meant reorganizing my work day as well as my work week, to fit in time for my two targeted goals – writing and coaching.
Because I am self-employed and I have an established business with a partner to help, it is much easier for me to do this than most people. However, people who are unemployed could do it – and should! That’s an excellent topic for a future post, because I know a lot about reinventing yourself in your career.
But here’s the rub! Now that I have created the time, I feel guilty about using it for writing or coaching. Huh? What’s that all about?
Well, maybe that’s where my explorations should take me next. In the meantime, I’m having a wonderful time posting to this blog, learning how to enhance it and being CREATIVE!
