Hi - Came across you online while I'm recovering from surgery and was looking at Moses Potts will and that led to more looking, etc.etc. The reason for my comment is I think you are mistaken on your picture that you have labeled as W. E. Potts. We have a lot of pictures that my husband's aunt Lois gave us along with a bunch of "stuff" that I have yet to put together but hope I will evently get around to it. The persons in the picture are Mahlon Biddle Potts, son of William E. and Sarah W. Potts, born Feb. 4, 1842, died Feb. 23, 1919, age 77. Married Julina Lawrence, age 18, on Dec. 4, 1850. He is my husband's great grandfather. He is the son of Henry W. Potts of Monroe County. We obtained some old pictures from his Aunt Lois, Tampa, the last living relative and she has since passed away. Wish you well with your endeavor. If you would like to e-mail me please do. Maybe I'll get around to putting this "mess" together soon. I've recently obtained some info off the web that I need to add to my pile. Best of luck.

Al, I am slowly moving my genealogy 'stories' over into this wordpress blog. I moved one of the Fredonia stories today, so if you want to add comments there, you can.

Al, thanks so much. I sent a message to Aalja suggesting she join the blog as a contributor and I am going to suggest the same to you because we can all add valuable info about this area of Alabama and our relatives. Otherwise, with your permission I will give her your hotmail address.

I have a photo of my Grandfather whose name was Benjamin James and who was called Uncle Benny in our family. I'll post it when I get a minute. He raised his ten children in a tenant house on your property and was very much loved by all of them. When his oldest daughter married into the Wilkinson family, the matriarch of that family was very annoyed, since she considered my grandmother beneath the rest of them. Eventually when she died, my grandmother became mistress of their home on the Fredonia Road, until the family lost the place during the depression.
